| Poas Volcano National Park

The Poas Volcano is one of the world's largest geysers with an awesome crater, over 1.5 km. wide! The volcano is active, but completely safe for viewing. This tour begins with a beautiful drive through the lush coffee plantations and flower farms of the area.
We leave San Jose and pass the second largest city in Costa Rica, Alajuela on our way to Poas Volcano. We will see lush coffee fields and flower farms along the way.
Poas Volcano has an amazingly huge crater almost a mile wide! With a sulphure lake in the middle. It is actually a geyser – one of the world's largest. The volcano is in a national park in a cloudforest environment full of lush green vegetation and exotic birds. A trail through the park leads us to a peaceful lagoon where we will end our hike.

We leave San Jose en route to the Pacific Coast along the old Spanish trail dating back to 1606.
Once we arrive at our destination we will begin our river adventure on the Tarcoles. Our guides will take us un a wonderful natural adventure full of water and migratory birds, the great macaw parrots and crocodiles.
We will continue by visiting one of Costa Rica's most popular resorts – Punta Leona. This beach resort is surrounded by more than 1500 acres of preserved dry tropical forest to rainforest. White sand beaches and a beautiful blue sea will delight us.
We will enjoy a day off in this gorgeous locale with all of it's available activities which include water sports, swimming or relaxing by the hotel pool. A delicious lunch will be served at one of the restaurants bordering the resort.
After lunch we wil enjoy an optional hiking tour through the jungle. This tour takes about 1.5 hours and is a good opportunity to see animals such as reptiles, birds, amphibians and scorpions.
Sunset is an extraordinary event at Punta Leona and we will all enjoy this ethereal experience after a day full of adventure and return to San Jose.
