La Fortuna, located 14 miles from lodge main
entrance, features scenic trails and surrounding natural beauty,
waterfalls, and typical Costa Rican cuisine. Lake Arenal has
an area of over 75 sq. km. and is populated with a very challenging
game fish called the Rainbow Bass (Guapote) because of its
iridescent colors. The rainbow bass is found only in fresh
water rivers and lakes in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Honduras.
In Lake Arenal, the Guapote weighs up to 12 pounds and is
taken with bass lures, deep runners and jigs.

Tabacón thermal springs, nestled at
the base of Arenal volcano in lush jungle surroundings, provide
rest and relaxation for area visitors. Features natural hot

More sedate area pursuits include tours, bird
watching and walking trails. For the active outdoors person

Bosques de Chachagua
Chachagua Rain Forest Hotel is nested in the
eastern foothills of the Tilarán mountain range, one
of the most biologically diverse areas in all of Costa Rica.
The privately owned and maintained rain forest
of Chachagua is contiguos to the International Children's
Rainforest, which in turn is neighbor to the Monteverde Cloud
Forest Reserve. This means that Chachagua is part of a large
protected area and helps provide habitat for many of the threatened
inhabitants of the rain forest such as: Tapir, Jaguar, Ocelot
and Peccaries.
The hotel's restaurant has being design overlooking
